Multi-target normal behaviour models for wind farm condition monitoring

نویسندگان

چکیده

The trend towards larger wind turbines and remote locations of farms fuels the demand for automated condition monitoring strategies that can reduce operating cost avoid unplanned downtime. Normal behaviour modelling has been introduced to detect anomalous deviations from normal operation based on turbine’s SCADA data. A growing number machine learning models turbine subsystems are being developed by farm managers this end. However, these need be kept track of, maintained require frequent updates. This research explores multi-target as a new approach capturing behaviour. We present an overview regression methods, motivate their application benefits in SCADA-based monitoring, assess performance case study. find advantageous comparison single-target they effort practical without compromising accuracy. also outline some areas future research.

Models for monitoring wind farm power

Different models for monitoring wind farm power output are considered. Data mining and evolutionary computation are integrated for building the models for prediction and monitoring. Different models using wind speed as input to predict the total power output of a wind farm are compared and analyzed. The k-nearest neighbor model, combined with the principal component analysis approach, outperfor...

Assessing the Validity of Wind Farm Noise Monitoring Data for Periods of Partial Wind Farm Operation

Wind farm noise compliance assessments require measurement of the wind farm noise under full operating conditions. Normal wind farm operation typically includes periods where one or more wind turbines may be unable to operate, due to maintenance requirements, grid restrictions, or other factors. For a large wind farm with many wind turbines, or in situations where cumulative noise impacts from ...

Probabilistic Models for Wind Turbine and Wind Farm Performance

A Markov model for the performance of wind turbines is developed that accounts for component reliability and the effect of wind speed and turbine capacity on component reliability. The model is calibrated to the observed performance of offshore turbines in the north of Europe, and uses wind records obtained from the coast of the state of Maine in the northeast United States in simulation. Simul...

Reference wind farm selection for regional wind power prediction models

Short-term wind power forecasting is recognized today as a major requirement for a secure and economic integration of wind generation in power systems. This paper deals with the case of regional forecasting of wind power with a large number of wind farms involved. Due to the large amount of potentially available information and also because part of the wind farms may not be "observable", foreca...

Wind Turbine Drivetrain Condition Monitoring - An Overview

Wind energy is presently the fastest growing renewable energy source in the world. However, the industry still experiences premature turbine component failures, which lead to increased operation and maintenance (O&M) costs and subsequently, increased cost of energy (COE). To make wind power more competitive, it is necessary to reduce turbine downtime and increase reliability. Condition monitori...
